It’s always nice to receive support from the Montreal community, and Evan Prodromou’s StatusNet stepped up to the bat this year as a silver sponsor to give us a hand.
StatusNet, Inc. is a Quebec corporation headquartered in Montreal with staff around the world. StatusNet makes Open Network Services – sites that use Open Source software to create and distribute Open Content. StatusNet also provides professional support contracts and customization for companies that use the StatusNet software on their own servers for intranet or Internet microblogging.
We’ll be microblogging live from PodCamp Montreal on Identica, so be sure to follow us at http://identi.ca/podcampmontreal.
And remember: If you’re talking about PodCamp Montreal on microblogging platforms like Twitter and Identi.ca, use the #pcmtl hashtag.
Evan speaks at PodCamp Montreal (Saturday, 1:30pm, room DE-3230) :
Topic: Building a podcast with StatusNet
Many podcasters use WordPress to distribute their podcast. Evan will discuss how to make a podcast with StatusNet, and what some possible advantages might be. He’ll show step-by-step how to install StatusNet, configure it to accept podcasting files, and upload files to the site. He’ll also show how to use StatusNet in conjunction with third-party sites like libsyn and archive.org. Finally, he’ll demonstrate ‘microcasting’ with cellphones.
