Introduction
In September 2008, 263 new media aficionados from across Quebec, Canada, the US and from as far away as Singapor and the UK gathered in Montreal for the inaugural edition of a two-day podcasting and new media conference called PodCamp Montreal. 450 unique visitors participated through PodCamp Montreal’s live web feed. Numbers grow as visitors continue to consult our online archives.
PodCamp Montreal is based on a model which has been successfully implemented in cities such as Toronto, Boston, New York, Chicago, Perth and Berlin.
Participants included new media enthusiasts and professionals specializing in blogging, podcasting, Facebook, YouTube and social networking. PodCamp Montreal’s volunteer organizing committee includes some of Montreal’s top podcasting and social media specialists, such as Sylvain Grand’Maison, Julien Smith, Bob Goyetche, Mitch Joel, Jean-François Blais, Laurent LaSalle, Laurent Maisonnave, Hugh McGuire, Harold Boeck and Michelle Sullivan.
PodCamp Montreal is a not-for-profit event. Our goal is to connect people and help further promote and develop social media expertise in Montreal.
PodCamp Montréal 2008 was held on September 20th and 21st, at Pavillon de Design de l’UQAM.
A good time was had by all.
