Alexandre Enkerli is a semi-nomadic French-speaking ethnographer. He’s been teaching anthropology, folkloristics, and sociology at diverse institutions in different parts of the United States and Canada. His involvement in geek culture is that of the typical participant-observer : both an outsider looking in and an insider checking out.
Social media and academic life can cross-fertilize, if we let them. I’ll talk about my personal experience trying to bridge the gap between academia and the “geek crowd”.
Course blogs, lecturecasts, academic conversations online… Does it even make sense?
Alexandre’s session is scheduled on Sunday at 10:00.

Thanks for the vote of confidence!
Initially, I wanted to do some kind of ad hoc session, Ã la BarCamp. But when I saw that #pcmtl is actually organized, I thought I’d do something.
It’ll be a pretty informal session. Just a way to share a few thoughts about living in both worlds.
Good on ya. I’m sure you’ll do very well. You’re use to working with an audience
Cheers.
Can’t beleive I missed this! Alex, where can we find the audio recording? Thanks
