Hat tip to our sponsors – Rogers

This post was written for a previous edition of PodCamp Montreal. Please be aware that it might contain obsolete information.

Did you know that Rogers, the Canadian communications giant, is a family affair with deep roots in the field of broadcasting?

Edward S. ‘Ted’ Rogers Sr invented the world’s first alternating current (AC) radio tube, which allowed radios to be powered by ordinary current and make their way into homes everywhere.  What would he have thought of podcasting, we wonder?

As a young man, Edward’s son and the founder of Rogers Communications, Ted Rogers, started Rogers Radio Broadcasting Limited, which acquired the nation’s pioneer FM station, CHFI-FM. In 1962 he pioneered stereo broadcasting in FM with CHFI and also founded CFTR-AM in Toronto. Ted Rogers grew his company into a communications empire which includes Rogers Wireless, Rogers Media, Rogers Cable and Rogers Telecom.

PodCamp Montreal is proud to have the support of a Canadian company with such illustrious origins and such a strong history of success. Thank you!
